Brewer's yeast is a major byproduct of beer production. Fresh, wet brewer's yeast sludge has a high water content and contains protein and polysaccharides, making it extremely sticky. During the drying process, it easily clumps together and sticks to the drum wall. Ordinary drying equipment often suffers from material smearing, blockage, and uneven drying at the discharge point, making continuous and stable production impossible. Our company's brewer's yeast dryer is specifically designed for highly viscous yeast sludge, overcoming the core challenge of material adhesion and wall sticking. It enables continuous, large-scale dehydration of brewer's yeast. The dried yeast can be used as feed or organic fertilizer, achieving resource recycling of the waste residue.
The complete equipment consists of a feeding system, an anti-sticking pretreatment unit, a main drying drum, a dispersing and anti-sticking mechanism, a hot air supply system, a discharge crushing system, a tail gas dust removal system, and a PLC control system. Wet brewer's yeast sludge is conveyed to the pretreatment station, where a dry-mixing process is used to thoroughly mix a portion of the already dried dry yeast with high-moisture yeast. The dry material particles coat the wet yeast sludge, reducing material stickiness from the source and preventing clumping and adhesion to the dryer walls. This improves material flowability and lays the foundation for subsequent drying.
After entering the dryer, the material is conveyed forward inside the drum. The feed section of the dryer has the highest material viscosity. The drum is equipped with a specialized combined dispersing and lifting plate and a powerful crushing mechanism, unlike ordinary dryers with simple lifting plates. During operation, the mechanism continuously beats and breaks up the soft clumps formed by the wet yeast, constantly scraping the inner wall of the drum to prevent sticky yeast material from adhering and accumulating on the drum wall. Simultaneously, it continuously turns and disperses the material, increasing the contact area between the material and hot air, accelerating moisture evaporation, and preventing wet material from clumping and remaining inside the drum. The inner wall of the drum is polished to reduce material adhesion and further reduce the probability of sticking to the walls.
The brewer's yeast dryer addresses the problem of high-viscosity material adhesion through material pretreatment and internal structure, overcoming the difficulties of frequent wall blockage in traditional drying equipment. It is an ideal complete drying equipment for beer brewing companies to handle waste yeast sludge.
